Holland Pig Quality: New standard for Dutch pork
From 1 March 2025, the Dutch pig sector will introduce Holland Varken Quality, a renewed chain quality system. This initiative, a collaboration between pig farmers, slaughterhouses, POV and COV, replaces the current IKB regulations and responds to the increasing quality requirements from the national and international market.
Holland Varken Quality distinguishes itself through a more efficient and transparent approach. For example, the number of regulations has been reduced from 150 to 100, with redundant guidelines being eliminated. The current IKB regulations have been thoroughly revised and adapted to current market requirements. Guidelines that no longer add value have been removed. This has reduced the number of regulations. The new quality system is clearer and more targeted.
Less red tape
For pig farmers, this means less administrative hassle, faster and better cooperation within the pork chain and easier compliance with modern (inter)national quality requirements.
Eric Stiphout, POV director and pig farmer, emphasises the importance of digital data exchange: ‘This makes audits and cooperation between chain partners a lot easier and more efficient.’
