Press release: Van Rooi and Van Loon Group join forces for sustainable growth.
The family businesses Van Rooi and Van Loon Group intend to join forces. Both companies have and share a clear vision to ensure high-quality, sustainable, safe and affordable food as chain directors.
By coming together, a solid company will be created that is active in all segments of the food chain – from farm to fork. The new company will have a leading position in Retail, Foodservice and Industry.
Van Rooi has been a successful family business for over 70 years, specializing in the global industrial sale of meat. The company is strong in primary processing, and its good, long-term relationships with livestock farmers ensure consistency and stability in the supply of pigs and cattle. Joining forces with Van Loon Group provides the new generation of the family – who are already active within Van Rooi – a solid foundation on which to continue building a high-quality, transparent and future-proof food chain.
Over the past 55 years, Van Loon Group has established a leading position in sustainable meat and convenience products for Retail and Foodservice in the Netherlands. Van Loon Group has also been active in Belgium for the past two years. The family business is innovation-driven and characterized by quality, sustainability and distinctive supply chain concepts. The proposed transaction is subject to advice from the works councils and approval by the relevant competition authorities. The parties expect to complete the transaction during 2026.
The board of the combined company will consist of CEO Hans Roelofs, Marc van Rooi and Robert van Ballegooijen. Marc van Rooi will remain responsible for Van Rooi and Robert van Ballegooijen will remain responsible for Van Loon Group. Both companies will continue to operate independently under their own names.
‘As Van Rooi, we have taken the initiative to take over the activities of Van Loon Group. These activities fit in well with those of Van Rooi. The combined company will be active in all market segments, both domestically and internationally. ’According to Marc and Addy van Rooi, owners of Van Rooi.
Erik van Loon: 'There is no successor within our family; for me, the future of the dedicated employees and the continuity of our great company are paramount. By transferring the company to Van Rooi, we have found a good home for our company. Van Rooi's activities and DNA are a good fit for our company; we are joining forces and working together to make it an even better company. I will remain actively involved as a member of the Supervisory Board.'
